Fans have been quick to rank it as one of their top ARPGs with comments made on its seamless mechanics, dual-class system and character customization. Grim Dawn has been met with some positive reception from players, with a review score of 87% on PC Gamer and 9/10 on steam. The game was both developed and published by Crate Entertainment, with an expansion ‘Forgotten Gods’ later being released on Steam. With the option of either Single-player or multiplayer mode and run on Path Engine, Grim Dawn is available on Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. Players will complete quests, with up to 3 other players in multi-player mode, to save the human race and eventually reclaim the world. One of my backups would be save\transfer.First released on 25th February 2016, Grim Dawn is set in a fantasy world where, as an RPG, players take on the role of one of the only survivors of the human race that is at threat of extinction due to war between two higher powers. Save\transfer.gst is the shared player stash. One of the backups for it would be save\main\_Anna In The Shadows\player.g00 Save\main\_Anna In The Shadows\player.gdc is one of my character's main save file. Obviously, take your own backup of the original file if you modify it. When we are looking for the last file, we look in both the new save path and the old one. Generally, what we want to do is replace the original file (eg, transfer.gst) with the last non-empty file (eg, transfer.t00). Characters follow the same backup method, but you can't tell if something is wrong with them by looking at filesize (they are smaller, but too many other things affect the size). Empty stashes are anywhere between 1k and 5k. For a stash, that means fewer items in the stash. The lower the size of the file, the emptier the file. It has the original name, but the file extension will have one character plus two numbers. Save\main\character_name\player.gdc as the primary save file. Save\transmutes.gst: the transmutes you own Grim Dawn saves the real files with a file names of: If you want to actually recover the stash, not just each item, continue. Neither gdstash or Grim Dawn itself will care that the saves are in a subdirectory. The only reason I don't suggest this is that it will dupe certain gear and if you're a purist you don't want that. I created a directory called steamsaves under save\main and just flat copied the old steam saves in. One cool trick here is that gdstash doesn't care about the the exact path. But if you do it in the incorrect order, you will duplicate your components. If that -didn't- work, (and it probably didn't), perform the exact same steps for the old save directory. You don't have your stash, but you have your stash items. Open gdstash, then check to see what you can find (search button -> Item Info All -> search button). Set the import directory to your new save location, then load items from dir. This will NOT recover your stash, just import everything into gdstash. This directory is the cloud save directory.įirst things first, we're going to try an automatic recovery. Go to there, then go inside the 219990 directory. In theory, there should be one directory with your numeric steam user id. To find it, go to your steam install location ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Steam if you haven't changed it), then go to the userdata directory. It's at "$steam_install_location\userdata\$your_user_id\219990\remote\save" Your new save path is wherever you changed the save path to, probably Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn Let's define a few pieces of terminology first. If you turned it off and imported an empty stash, all is not lost (maybe!). It sounds like you disabled them, but it's the most likely reason something is wrong. Disable cloud saves in steam, then inside the game. I think it's something internal to grim dawn, but it doesn't really matter. You can go for a year with them working (I did), but eventually steam gets confused about whether the modified stash or original one is correct and screws it up.
